The Bharat Broadband Project

• The government's largest-ever Rs. 20,000 crore investment in building a National Optic Fibre  Network (NOFN)
• 3 pilot projects in 61 gram panchayats across Ajmer, Vizag and North Tripura.
• It is based on a unique PPP or Public Private Panchayat Model
• Benefits of this massive investment are at three levels :

1. Affordable devices, preferably wireless and ready for early use.
2. Relevant, local content. 
3. Successful introduction of tele-medicine, e-governance, e-learning and e-commerce applications that form the fulcrum of the nation's e-infrastructure.
